A new managing general agent (MGA), Elitium, has launched to provide commercial combined insurance for manufacturing businesses and insurance coverage for unoccupied residential and commercial properties.
The MGA was incubated by Mission Underwriters and aims to bring traditional underwriting expertise back to the insurance process.
Elitium says its strategy focuses on hands-on, expert-led underwriting, where each risk is carefully assessed by experienced professionals rather than relying solely on automated systems.
Elitium Targets Manufacturing and Unoccupied Property Risks
Elitium’s commercial combined insurance product is designed for selected trades in the manufacturing sector.
Industries covered include:
- Printing companies
- Engineering firms
- Metalworking businesses
- Electronics manufacturers
- Plastics manufacturers
- Woodworking companies
Alongside its manufacturing coverage, the MGA will also provide property insurance for well-maintained unoccupied residential and commercial buildings, a niche segment that often requires specialized underwriting.

Experienced Leadership Team
Elitium was co-founded by two experienced insurance professionals who will serve as co-Chief Executive Officers:
- Linda Bichener, former Commercial Underwriting Manager at DUAL Group
- Leah Miller, former Senior Commercial Trading Underwriter at DUAL Group
The founders bring years of experience in commercial underwriting and plan to build a specialist underwriting platform focused on broker relationships and tailored risk evaluation.
Focus on Expert-Led Underwriting
According to Bichener, Elitium was created to restore care, expertise, and personal judgment to the underwriting process.
She explained that every risk submission will be reviewed directly by an experienced underwriter to ensure contract certainty and customized insurance terms.
The MGA also aims to work closely with insurance brokers, providing them with direct access to decision-makers when structuring coverage for complex risks.
Miller added that underwriting should be treated as a specialized craft, particularly when dealing with businesses that do not fit easily into automated underwriting systems.
By focusing on a limited number of sectors, Elitium intends to maintain strong underwriting discipline and deep expertise in its chosen markets.
Mission Supports the New MGA Launch
Ross Dingwall, CEO of Mission Underwriters, said Elitium reflects the type of specialist MGA that Mission aims to support.
He noted that the platform was built to help experienced underwriters establish focused, expertise-driven MGAs with a clear long-term vision.
Dingwall also expressed confidence that the leadership team’s experience and disciplined underwriting approach will help Elitium stand out in the specialist commercial insurance market.

Growing Demand for Specialist MGAs
The launch of Elitium reflects a broader trend in the insurance industry, where specialist MGAs are emerging to serve niche markets that require expert underwriting.
By focusing on specific sectors such as manufacturing and unoccupied property, Elitium aims to deliver more precise risk assessment, tailored coverage, and stronger broker relationships than traditional high-volume underwriting models.
